Understanding the Window of Tolerance helps practitioners gauge a client’s emotional and physiological state, while insights from Polyvagal Theory illuminate the connections between the nervous system and emotional well-being.
Moreover, the training emphasizes the principles of transformational connection, facilitating deeper interactions between practitioner and client. With over 140 bodywork techniques drawn from diverse modalities, including Esalen, Californian, Swedish, and Thai massage, participants will develop a versatile skill set that enhances their ability to support clients on their healing journeys. What is the focus of the training?
Our programs integrate somatic practices with touch and movement. You will learn different types of touch and massage to promote well-being and emotional regulation.
Do I need prior experience in bodywork or therapy to enrol?
No. Our programs are designed for both complete beginners and those with therapeutic experience. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and experiences who are drawn to this work.
How long are the training programs?
Our core training program is 42 days long and may be completed in two different modalities:
- Fourteen weekend workshops over two years, each lasting three days. Seven workshops per year.
- Six intensive trainings, each lasting seven days, also divided over two years.
Both formats are 42 days long and approximately 330 hours.
What can I expect in terms of personal development during the training?
Our programs emphasize personal healing and transformation. You can expect to engage in deep, embodied self-exploration and to learn to navigate and heal your own trauma. With this comes an increased capacity to support others.
The course is open to both those looking for professional training and those looking for a process of personal exploration.
Are there certification requirements after completing the program?
Upon successful completion of the training, which includes a process of personal supervision, you will receive a certification in Conscious Touch.
Should you wish to work as a Conscious Touch Practitioner you will be able to apply for insurance through Therapist Insurance and membership of The Complimentary Medicine Association.
How big are the classes?
The maximum group sizes are 24 people which will include a teacher and 2 teaching assistants.
How is the learning structured?
Classes typically include a mix of meditation, breathing, movement exercises or somatic practices, hands-on practice, group circles and discussion, and personal reflection.
Will I receive hands-on practice during the training?
Yes, hands-on practice is a core component of our training. You will have numerous opportunities to practice techniques with classmates in a safe and guided setting.
How is trauma addressed in the training?
We incorporate trauma-informed principles throughout the curriculum, teaching students to recognize trauma responses and create safe, supportive environments for clients. This includes understanding the impact of trauma on the body, mind and spirit.
What kind of support is available for students during and after the program?
Students can have individual Conscious Touch sessions from qualified practitioners, as well as supervision sessions to support the learning process, and integrate the teachings.
Students who have already completed the training are welcome to repeat them with a discounted price.
